A child is a magnificent sky of dreams, stars and talents, who have the potential of building the chapter named ‘future’ in the book of world from the pen, paper and guidance given to him by the elders. These pure hearts are the living messages we send to a time we will not see, and it is our duty to ensure that the message sent is of wisdom, knowledge and responsibility. Every child deserves respect, love, education, greater possibilities of growth and a chance to spread their wings wide and fly to possible lengths.
But the world has gone astray due to numerous social and economic reasons and has built a reality which contains dry sea of hope and infinite loop of wreck for children. India, being a country with noteworthy education level, has failed to literate the poor and underprivileged children. The vicious circle of poverty is a threat to childhood depriving children of their fundamental right to life. In addition, it deprives them of educational opportunities and prevents them from gaining access to medical care, clean water, food, shelter, security and protection, information, etc. This grievous situation puts them at risk for health problems and increases the likelihood of child labour or early marriage, thereby killing their hope for a better future.
A philanthropic and youth driven organisation named 'The Sakshar Foundation' started in Ahmedabad, took a remarkable initiative to give a ray of hope to the underprivileged children -orphaned, abandoned, destitute and other vulnerable groups. TSF provides them with food, clothes, relevant education, and even Healthcare assistance, watering the roots for growth and development.
The organisation brings innovative ideas and enthusiasm to spread happiness in the lives of the disadvantaged children and transforming them into responsible adults. One such example of their good work is the making of study tables for Aanganvadi kids from waste water bottles. It has adopted 9 rural schools for educating children and have inaugurated computer lab facilities in most of them, so that every child gets an access to the modern-day technology and information.
The organisation has a team of intelligent staff and motivated volunteers who work on planning and implementing out of box ideas to encourage and involve our society to bring the change that the world desperately needs. It holds exciting events for children such as drawing competitions, yoga events, planting trees to help them contribute to the well-being of nature, paper presentation for environment, dental check-up where children were given the pickup service from their villages and taken to the camp for treatment, Food & clothes distribution, stationery distribution in schools, Sports kit distribution and many more. Apart from this, it conducts campaigns such as Ashray Campaign, Barefoot Campaign and Adopt a Child for Education Campaign. It pays regular visits to different government schools to meet the children, shining light of upliftment in their bleak world. It is these small but thoughtful deeds that makes a difference and form genuine smiles. The organisation has successfully given a voice to the ignored part of the society and helped them build a life away from the ruins of backwardness and poverty.
It has been truly said ‘Good work is giving to the poor and the helpless, but divine work is showing them their worth to the One who matters’.
